On the 9th August 2016, it was published the Presidential Decree no. 155/16, which sets forth the legal system of the domestic work as well as the social protection of the domestic workers.
Given that everyday life is often not compatible with the natural delay of court proceedings, jurisdictions all over the world are creating alternative mechanisms for dispute resolution with the consequent decongestion of courts and more swift conclusion of these disputes. In this context, the Angolan legislator has published on 12 August 2016, Law no. 12/16 establishing the legal regime for Dispute and Conciliation Mediation as mechanisms for alternative dispute resolution, i.e. out of court means of resolving disputes.
It was published on the 20th of July in the Series I of the Official Gazette the Resolution nbr. 26 /16 approving the accession of the Republic of Angola to the International Convention on the Simplification and Harmonization of Customs Procedures established under the auspices of the Customs Cooperation Council.
The President of the Republic of Angola, has approved a new special contribution on banking operations. The Presidential Decree nr. 1/16, of 24 February, contains the legal framework of the special contribution on banking operations and entered into force on May 24, 2016.
On May 17th, Law no. 5/16, which establishes the legal framework for the exploration of gambling, betting and games of chance, social betting and remote online betting, was published in the Official Gazette (“Diário da República”), revoking an old Ordinance, dated of 1970, which so far has been regulating said activity.
